Recovery Day #6

Well, I wish I could tell everyone that we were headed home and everything is great but we're not and things seem to be moving backwards. Ethan is still fine but he is back on oxygen and he is still having these horrible screaming fits like he is really hurting somewhere. No one seems to know what's going on. They took x-rays of his stomach and said he has alot of gas built up and it may be really bad gas pains but the gas drops and other things they are treating it with doesn't seem to be helping. Doctor Knott-Craig seems to think he is stressed out so they are going to start him on something for that soon but his heart rate is sorta low when he is sleeping and I'm afraid it will drop it even more. I wish he could talk so he could tell us what is wrong but we are having to play the ruling out game. They said his heart is great, lungs are great and bowel sounds are great so we are hoping something will be figured out soon so we can come home. Looks like another day or so depending on how he does. Please pray that all will be great and Ethan will be back to his old self soon.

Amanda and Matt: Sorry Ethan is not back to his former self yet. I hope it is something minor that will go away in a short time. Maybe in a few hours he will be back to his cheerful little self and moving closer to going home. Your thoughts of wishing he could tell you what is bothering him is a universal thing that all mothers have wished with babies. Sending up prayers that this too shall pass soon. Karen

Amanda and Matt,
I'm thankful that the Dr. is saying that his heart and lungs are doing great..I think maybe he does have a lot of gas and after a major surgery, those gas pains can be horrible. He looks great and hopefully he will feel better soon. Lee said to let you know that he had texted you and wanted you to know that he is thinking about you, Ethan and Matt. He left for Texas today so I told him I would let you know. Give Ethan a kiss for me and I hope to talk to you soon.
Love you all, Cheri

Hey Amanda,Matt,Ethan,
Sorry to hear that you are not Alabama bound yet.
I too think Ethan has a bad case of gas and will be better soon.I said a special prayer for him before posting this and I am trusting our Lord to answer that prayer.I know how frustating it can be to not know what to do for your child but hang in there and trust your instincts. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all and we love and miss you and hope you get to head home soon but we know that Ethan must be ready most of all.Sending all our love and kisses and hugs.Love, Aunt wanda

I'm so sorry that things are not going so well right now. Hopefully they will find a cause and solution soon. Many, many prayers are being offered on Ethan's and your family's behalf.
